EK 230 description
The EK 230 excavators rugged and spacious cab has everything required maximum operator efficiency and comfort:
hydraulic supports from Simrit, Germany, reducing vibration;
rubber seals on doors and hatches, ensuring sound and heat insulation;
ergonomically designed operators seat from Grammer, Germany, permitting a wide range of adjustments;
conveniently arranged control units from Bosch Rexroth, Germany, requiring only slight lever and pedal effort;
heater from Webasto, Germany, and timer for the Webasto, Germany, engine preheater to create additional comfort;
good visibility, thanks to large cab windows with flat panes for rapid replacement in the event of damage;
at customers request the cab may be provided with an agreeable operator option - an acoustic stereo recorder, also an air conditioner from Webasto, Germany, for comfortable work conditions in hot climates.
The EK 230 excavator-s new multifunctional control panel, conforming to the latest design and ergonomic requirements, diagnoses excavator systems both before engine start and during operation, informs the operator of any trouble developing or permissible operating characteristics being exceeded, and facilitates a flexible choice of engine and hydraulic system operation and control modes.
The panel-s LED display, including four indicators and four signalling devices, facilitates total control of engine temperature and pressure, hydraulic fluid and coolant temperature, fuel level, and also their maximum permissible values.
The STOP multifunctional indicator warns the operator of any emergencies, highlighting data in the form of an excavator unit malfunctioning code during pre-starting diagnostics.
The use of dustproof feather-touch mode selection switches, LED display and indicators, availability of engine speed control scale and LED highlighting (white) not only render the control unit more informative but also significantly prolong its service life.
A system for automatically adjusting indicator and highlighting brightness depending on external illumination intensity, together with the antiglare front panel ensure maximum operator comfort at all times.
Active protection against maximum permissible operating characteristics being exceeded, the availability of the STOP indicator and a buzzer significantly simplify excavator system operation control and enable the operator to fully concentrate on fulfilling digging operations, which facilitates increased labour productivity.
The EK 230 features a 6 cylinder turbo-supercharged diesel engine from Deutz, Germany, equipped with a charge air cooling system and distinguished by a high degree of reliability, economy and low maintenance requirements. The Deutz diesel develops 172 hp (127 KW), conforms to EURO 3 requirements and ensures high excavator power, output and long service life in any operating conditions.
The twin axial-piston pump is mounted directly on the engine flywheel. Engine torque is transmitted from the engine to the pump by means of a reliable coupling from CENTA, Germany, requiring no maintenance or adjustment.
The multiple fuel cleaning system for removing dirt and water ensures long trouble-free operation of the high-pressure fuel pump and nozzles.
The EK 230 excavators hydraulic system ensures rational power consumption, rapid, smooth and precise action depending on operating conditions and the nature of the tasks being performed.
The hydraulic system is convenient to operate, versatile (meeting the requirements of any optional equipment), develops an operating pressure of 37.5 MPa, and permits maximum excavating output with reduced downtime.
All excavators are provided with a complete set of imported hydraulic equipment: unit pump, control valve, track drive and swing motors, control units from Bosch Rexroth, Germany, cushioned hydraulic cylinders from Hydrauto, Sweden, rotary distributor from Haldex, Germany, high pressure hoses from Manuli, Italy, grease fittings from Wurth, Germany, hydraulic fluid filter element from Hydac Filtertechnic or Internormen, Germany.
The EK 230 features an operating mode selection system (in all, six modes), designed to adjust engine and pump speed, also hydraulic system pressure to the nature of the work being fulfilled. The existence of this system ensures adjustment of equipment specifications with specific types of work, and consequently, excavator operating flexibility. The Power Boost mode allows the maximum effort created by excavator attachments to be increased by 10% for up to 8 seconds, if required by the current task.
Modern CAD techniques, quality materials, equipment from well-known international manufacturers, strict quality control at all stages of production ensure consistent quality, high accuracy and reliability of EK 230 excavator metal structures.
All metal structure parts are manufactured only from low alloy steel to ensure maximum ruggedness and service life. Parts subject to maximum loads during operation are made from high tensile grade 10 CRSiNiCu steel. High-tensile and wear resistant Swedish Hardox steel is used to manufacture buckets.
Metal structures are welded according to Esab, Sweden, techniques with Kempi, Finland, welding equipment using carbon-dioxide argon mixtures. Progressive welding techniques and modern welding equipment ensure high weld durability and consistent metal structure quality.
Piping is butt welded by means of programmable Esab equipment, which enhances reliability and prolongs service life. Ultrasonic weld control precludes internal defects.
The EK 230 excavators undercarriage, with parts from Italtractor, Italy, is distinguished by a high degree of reliability and long service life, ensuring efficient excavator operation in any soils.
The X-shaped undercarriage frame ensures high resistance to bending and twisting. The crawler frames convex surface reinforces structural strength and prevents soil build-up. Guide rails along the track frames prevent slipping of lower rollers from the track assemblies.
Track drive motors from KYB, Japan, and track drive gearboxes from Trasmital Bonfiglioli, Italy, ensure enhanced excavator reliability during travel and also the required tractive force along inclines and during excavator turning.
Italtractor lower and upper track rollers are able to withstand heavy loads and are intended for long service. The rollers are sealed with special rubber and metal packings affording wear surfaces protection against dust and dirt.
Italtractor track adjusters ensure reliable excavator operation throughout the entire period of service.
The rugged Italtractor tracks ensure reliable track adhesion and excavator operation in any types of soils.
Booms and arms are welded box-section structures with special stiffening ribs (webs)at points subjected to maximum loads. They are designed for efficient, trouble-free operation of the EK 230 even in the toughest conditions. Buckets are made from high tensile and wear resistant Swedish Hardox-400 steel and equipped with teeth from the Italian firm Metallurgica Valchiese.
A wide range of optional equipment (buckets of various shapes and capacities, hydraulic hammers, rippers, twisted augers, clamshell buckets) ensures the EK 230 excavators versatility and high output.
